Milestones to the present

  • August 2008: Start of the AK Project at the Center for Innovation in Immunoregulative Technology and Therapeutics as part of the Program for Realization of Innovation Centers for Fusion of Advanced Technology, as promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
  • March 2010: Proposal from the Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine at a collegium held by MEXT
  • June 2010: Closed workshop on Life Innovation Strategies: Advanced Medical Research Concept for Development of New Drugs
  • October 2010: An announcement of the Medical Innovation Center concept during a Kyoto University presentation at the World Health Summit 2010 in Berlin is well received by pharmaceutical experts in the public, private, and academic sectors worldwide.
  • December 2010: The Medical Innovation Center is established at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine.
  • January 2011: A collaborative research agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited establishes the TK Project.
  • March 2011: A collaborative research agreement with Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Company Limited establishes the DSK Project.
  • March 2011: A collaborative research agreement with Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation establishes the TMK Project.
  • April 2011: Application is made to the "Technology Bridge" Medical Innovation Center Establishment Assistance Program for FY 2010 under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Subsidy for Advanced Technology Demonstration and Evaluation Facility Construction Assistance program. (Approved in July.)
  • September 2011: Construction of the Medical Innovation Center begins. (Scheduled for completion in March 2013.)
  • October 2011: The Medical Science and Business Liaison Organization is reorganized and the Office of the Promotion for Medical Innovation is established.
