Features of Our Projects

Characteristics of Projects Undertaken at MIC

Professors from the Graduate School of Medicine serve as project leaders.

A representative from the collaborating partner serves as sub-leader.
(In some cases, a representative from the collaborating partner will serve as leader during the new drug development stage.)

Participation in each alliance is limited to one collaborating partner per field (or drug discovery concept).
(Upstream/downstream alliances involving multiple partners will also be considered.)

The research period is 10 years. (Evaluation and review after 5 years.)

The core research group receives support from/collaborates with both basic and clinical medicine.

The budget allows us to create a core research group comprising five to ten newly hired junior principal investigators.

Fair yet flexible management of intellectual property that maintains a balance between the University's obligation to publish research findings and the equitable sharing of proprietary knowledge derived from that research.

Although collaborative research agreements are based in principle on the premise that research findings are to be shared equally, details governing the allocation of shares as well as the granting of either exclusive or non-exclusive licenses are to be incorporated into the agreement.
